Tadpoles - warming in the sun

Gill S reported that the Tadpoles in her pond were doing very well in her pond, getting bigger in the sun-warmed water. 
Anne D-N commented that these were the only tadpoles reported in ponds currently, the over-wintered ones apparently not surviving.  No sign of newts yet this year either.
