16th July 2025 - on the recent ANW trip to Trumpington Meadows, the group walked along the river Cam passed Byron's Pool, where a Grey Wagtail was busily collecting food from along the dam and the nearby lilies, before flying to what we presumed was its nest under the bank.
Also on the lilies was a dozing adult Moorhen. On closer inspection, this seemed to have extra legs. As we watched, three small chicks materialised from being brooded, before venturing out across the lily pads and being fed there.
