Black-tailed Skimmer

13th July 2025 - around the margins of the Grant Park lake, a yellowy-olive coloured dragonfly, with a ladder of dark markings down its abdomen, could be seen regularly dipping into the water. This female Black-tailed Skimmer was laying her eggs by regularly dipping the tip of her abdomen into the water, whilst being watched-over by a male, nearby with a grey-blue abdomen with a black tip.  Fascinating to watch.
