31st July 2024 - at this time of year, Polly M often cuts a few flowers from the garden to put in a glass vase in the kitchen. Imagine the surprise when, at breakfast, she discovered the water had become occupied by a Water Boatman. Apparently, as well as being able to 'scull' brilliantly underwater, the adults can also fly, and this one must have somewhat desperately find this tiniest of ponds to land in.
