Polly M was out in the garden (in Lewis Crescent) first thing this morning, and clearly heard a Cuckoo.
It repeated its call 3-4 times at around 08:20am, and seemed to be calling from the direction of the ORC / LSA. She didn't hear it again, so it may have been a roaming male, but worth keeping an ear open in case it stayed around.
This is the first report of a Cuckoo in the Abington's this year. Last year, Cuckoos were heard at several locations around the village over a number of weeks during May, but that was the first since 2017, so it's good to hear one again this year!
Please drop Derek T an email (derek@turnidges.com) with any interesting bird sightings in the Abington parishes.
